SCARA DRIVER II

 

The SCARA DRIVER II, B-25 and B- 25L models are basic bridge mounts for an EPSON G10/G20 Robot. The design is well suited for taller, higher mounted and lighter screw driver equipment. The U axis (rotational) range of motion is +/- 120 degrees and the Z axis range is either 150mm or 300mm depending upon using either a long or short robot axis. The maximum torque for this tooling is 12NM from a tool weighing maximum of 4.5KG if using a G10 or 14KG if using a G20.

The SCARA DRIVER II, C-25 and C- 25L models are Cantilever mounts with the addition of a linear rail bearing for an EPSON G10/G20 Robot. The design is well suited for lower mounted and heavier screw driver equipment. The U axis (rotational) range of motion is +/- 110 degrees and the Z axis range is either 150mm or 375mm depending upon using either a long or short robot axis. The maximum torque for this tooling is 12NM from a tool weighing maximum of 6KG if using a G10 or 13.5KG if using a G20.

The SCARA DRIVER II, BRL-25 and BRL- 25L models are basic bridge mounts same mount as the B-25 and B25L but with an added bearing for supporting overhanging weight. This unit also has force management for protecting the robot from the process push load/torque load and is designed to be used on either an EPSON G10 or G20 Robot. The design is well suited for taller, higher mounted and heavier screw driver equipment. The U axis (rotational) range of motion is +/- 120 degrees and the Z axis range is either 150mm or 300mm depending upon using either a long or short robot axis. The maximum torque for this tooling is 20NM from a tool weighing maximum of 5KG if using a G10 or 11.5KG if using a G20.

This unit also has force management for protecting the robot from the process push load/torque load. The design is well suited for lower mounted and heavier screw driver equipment. The U axis (rotational) range of motion is +/- 110 degrees and the Z axis range is either 150mm or 375mm depending upon using either a long or short robot axis. The maximum torque for this tooling is 40NM from a tool weighing maximum of 5KG if using a G10 or 10.5KG if using a G20.

Orbitform validated the feasibility using its Servo-Driven riveter to form the joint and check joint torque during the machine cycle. The machine sequence included orbital forming then checking torque in fixture; executing this sequence until the joint was within the acceptable torque range.

This “closed loop” riveting/torque check operation was a significant savings to the supplier related to capital investment, floor space, throughput, and consistent quality

Epson Corporation today announced the development of its S250 series of high-precision force sensors. The S250 series, which will be rolled out worldwide from early June, will be available as an option for the company’s six-axis and SCARA robots. Employing Epson’s proprietary piezoelectric quartz sensing technology, the new force sensors are durable and sensitive, allowing them to accurately and consistently sense minimal amounts of force in six directions. This will allow customers to automate complex manufacturing tasks and will improve productivity.
